The Wailing
Description
The Wailing without a beginning or an end. That’s the perfect description for this film. It’s definitely not made for the mainstream crowd. At some point, you catch yourself getting annoyed by how much is left unsaid. But ultimately, the sheer dread of what’s happening on screen and the oppressive atmosphere outweigh those subjective flaws.
This is one of those movies where the realization that you actually liked it doesn’t hit you right away. It takes a while for what you’ve seen to sink in, and a week or so later, it finally clicks: it was a damn good, deeply atmospheric ride, and you’d totally watch it again.
If you’re into weird, slow-burn cinema, this is an absolute must-watch.
P.S.
The Wailing really got under my skin. I’ve already referenced it a few times while writing reviews for other movies, and its plot still messes with my head.
