Clearly, the characters in The Knocking haven’t watched enough horror movies. Otherwise, they would never have returned to their childhood home—a house of violence, terror, and fear, and the very place they once fled from.

Countless horror films kick off with the protagonists returning to the site of a past tragedy, where half-forgotten nightmares awaken and something (or someone) tries to kill them all over again years later. But The Knocking takes a different path.

Years ago, the head of the family did some truly horrific things—things that still give the younger sister goosebumps. But the father is long dead, the kids are all grown up, and seemingly, nothing threatens their lives anymore. They just need to drop by, inspect the house, and get it ready for sale.

But really, they shouldn’t have gone back to that childhood house of horrors in the middle of a beautiful Finnish forest, and they definitely shouldn’t have stayed the night.
They should have just hired a realtor.

I really liked this film and consider it highly underrated. As for the low rating? It was dragged down by some absolute plebs.
