Dachra
Description
Dachra — the first full-length horror film in Tunisian history. And let’s hope it won’t be the last.
In its home country, the film became a national box office hit. But that tells us nothing. A film can be a hit on one continent and receive a bunch of negative reviews on another — due to different mentalities and cultural nuances.
Three journalism students take on a class project to investigate a 25-year-old case about a woman found with her throat slit, now locked in a psychiatric hospital. Their search for truth leads them to an isolated forest village, where residents carefully guard their secrets and refuse to share them.
This is exactly why I created Vegan Vampire — to find these exotic horror gems for you from Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, the Old World, Africa, Asia, and South America. Different cultures, different mentalities, their own folklore, and their own vision of the genre.
