A zombie apocalypse isn’t the best time to confess your love to someone. But on the other hand, there might not be another time. So better now than never. That’s settled.
Next point: a zombie apocalypse isn’t the best time to end your own life. After all, everything that worried, troubled, and gnawed at you is now in the past. Besides, if your desire to end it all was caused by certain people, you can take comfort in the fact that they’re most likely already dead or zombies. Life is looking up, and there’s no reason left to check out.
Third point: a zombie apocalypse isn’t the best time for traveling. The virus and the undead are everywhere. But on the other hand, it’s the perfect moment to take that trip you’ve always dreamed of. Nothing’s holding you back anymore. Plus, you need to find the perfect zombie-free spot anyway — some island or the edge of the Earth.
Alright, there’s no point continuing this list. We’ve already reached the conclusion that a zombie apocalypse isn’t such a bad time after all. Maybe even a new beginning.
Planet Earth will finally breathe a sigh of relief. Because now no one will drain all its resources, pump oil, disrupt ecosystems, or cut down forests — the remaining ones that couldn’t handle the greenhouse effect. The snow in Antarctica won’t melt from reflected sunlight, raising sea levels. And fresh water won’t slow down underwater currents.
Once upon a time, these were just scary stories told by environmentalists and fringe eco-activists, whom the majority considered freaks. But time has passed, and we’ve all felt the consequences of climate change firsthand: extreme heat, floods, hurricanes. We have all become witnesses to global warming.
There’s a graph that shows how humanity heated up the Earth over the last hundred years. Right after the technological revolution. Yes, it was a time of discoveries and experiments. Nobody cared about the environment. But over the past century or so, we’ve realized more than once that nothing goes without a trace. And I’m not even talking about all those insane experiments and the development of weapons of mass destruction. Drained seas, scorched earth, radiation, and places no longer fit for life.
The thirst for power and money in most cases overrides reason, and humanity continues to systematically destroy the home we all live in. And bring closer the day when We Are All Dead.
So it turns out that zombies will save the Amazon from deforestation and Antarctica from melting glaciers? Sounds insane. But it seems like the truth.
Maybe the real virus is humanity itself, which has been killing and enslaving everything in its path for thousands of years. From relatively recent history, we can recall the bloody Christianization of Europe. And you already know about all the wars that followed.
It seems that zombies are the only ones who can save the planet from its destruction. You could say they are the antidote to the humanity virus.
On the day when We Are All Dead, all wars on Earth will finally end. There will be no one left to fight, and no one left to fight with.
We can assume that zombies will evolve and become a new species inhabiting the planet. Maybe they’ll evolve so much that they’ll start feuding and warring with each other too. But before that, they will save the Amazon from deforestation and Antarctica from melting glaciers. And they will stop, or at least slow down, global warming.
