Riddle of Fire

Year: 2023 Runtime: 115 min. Director: Weston Razooli Country: France, United States

Description

Don’t let the trailer and poster fool you. Riddle of Fire is not for kids.

What won’t you do to play a new console? Take South Park — Cartman, unable to wait any longer for the PS5 release, decides to put himself into cryosleep until launch day.

Here, thankfully, the kids didn’t have to freeze themselves to play. They simply stole a console from a local warehouse, but when they hooked it up, they found out the TV had parental controls. And mom agrees to lift the restriction only if the kids bring her a blueberry pie.

Spoiler: within this film, the kids never get to play the console. I hope that at least in real life they don’t have such problems.

Retro Aesthetic: The film was shot entirely on 16mm film, giving it a warm, grainy look reminiscent of children’s adventure films from the 70s.
Music: The soundtrack is written in the style of dungeon synth (dark, fairy-tale electronics), emphasizing the surreal and magical atmosphere.

P.S.
You won’t find the usual madness, horror elements, or gore typical of the Vegan Vampire library here. But I hope you didn’t think I was only into that kind of stuff. Although… maybe it’s worse than that. I suspect I have dyslexia, which explains my unhealthy obsession with classifying, collecting, and structuring strange, unusual, and rare films.
