Leviticus
Description
The horror film Leviticus comes from NEON, a studio that keeps releasing horror movies that split the audience in half: while some writhe in ecstasy over the content, others spit with disgust. Isn’t that a success?
What I love about NEON’s films is that they always deliver style, quality, unconventional plots, and non-formulaic characters. And, of course, Leviticus is no exception.
This is not a movie you watch in the back row of a theater with a new girlfriend, nor is it something you put on in the background at home.
I believe in you and know you watch movies by the unwritten rules of every introvert: thoughtfully, in the dark, and alone.
I feel there’s something common between Leviticus and the anime The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu). What if the person you love is no longer that person? And when exactly did they stop being them? Maybe you’ve already fallen for a different version without even noticing, only realizing the switch later? And now you don’t know: who are your warm feelings really for? The one who’s gone, or the entity that pretended to be them for so long until it completely took over?
