Description

Brain Freeze is an eco-satire zombie horror!
If you watched the series La Femme Nikita (1997), know this: you’re not old. You’re a seasoned cinephile with decades of experience. And if, after all these years, nothing and no one has managed to break you or strip away your passions and interests, know this: you’re a winner. You’re still as young, sharp, and fascinating as you were 20–30 years ago. Unlike your classmates. And most importantly, you’ve stayed true to yourself—and you haven’t turned into one of the zombies that Roy Dupuis’s character has to fight in this film.

Yes, that’s Roy Dupuis—aka Michael, the guy who was constantly rescuing Nikita from the secret agency handlers who always wanted her dead back in La Femme Nikita.

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely loved that show as a kid and admired its characters. I never got around to watching Luc Besson’s original film that inspired it, nor have I seen the 2010 Nikita remake starring Maggie Q, despite meaning to a few times. But to me, it just lacks that same air of mystery and grim atmosphere that made the 1997 series so special.

I’m bringing all this up because sometimes it’s just really nice to see a familiar face from your past, even if they aren’t a household name. Though, honestly, Roy Dupuis has probably stayed the most active out of the entire Nikita cast. I’m pretty sure he even showed up in a video game at some point—I swear I stumbled across him on Steam once.

You’ve probably already forgotten you’re on the page for Brain Freeze, and I still haven’t said a single word about the plot—though I did drop a hint when I mentioned zombies. And let’s be honest, you could describe the plot of most zombie horrors with just one word: “zombies.” That’s it. You don’t need to say anything else.

But Brain Freeze actually brings something fresh to the table. In an elite gated community for the ultra-rich, they decide to treat their golf courses with a new “eco-friendly” fertilizer. Naturally, this triggers a localized apocalypse right on their private island. Yesterday’s billionaires? They’ve all turned into green, eco-conscious zombies.
