Description
Kombucha follows a musician who, after his career implodes, takes a job at the corporation Symbio—where employees are offered free kombucha. The drink delivers insane productivity, but at a cost: it turns people into obedient bio-drones and triggers grotesque mutations.
This is the feature debut of director Jake Myers, based on his 2023 short film of the same name. It premiered at FilmQuest 2025 to positive critical reception.
The film’s satirical edge targets corporate culture, the exploitation of creative workers, and the wellness industry’s hollow promises. It asks a sharp, timely question: Do corporations truly care about their employees—or just about output?
