Description

Animalia — Have you ever wondered what you would do if your country suddenly declared a state of emergency due to the arrival of an alien race or something supernatural?

Perhaps, amidst the resulting chaos, you’d have to travel across the entire country to reunite with your family. Along the way, you’ll meet many different people, good and bad. You’ll face a crisis of faith and experience all the “pleasures” of class inequality. And after going through this difficult journey, you might still never find out — were those aliens from outer space even real? Or what exactly caused the state of emergency?

Animalia combines elements of realism and surrealism and focuses not so much on the visual effects of some creatures’ invasion, but on the heroine’s internal experiences and philosophical reflections. So don’t expect anything like War of the Worlds or District 9 (I love it).

At the Sundance festival, the film received the Special Jury Award for “Creative Vision”.
