The Animal Kingdom
Description
The Animal Kingdom — this is what our planet is becoming. The reverse evolution (involution) of humanity. We witness the birth of a new species on Earth and how society reacts to it. It brings to mind Professor Xavier’s words from X-Men about a new stage of evolution.
In this new world, a father and son search for the mutated mother, while simultaneously watching how the world around them changes and human identity disintegrates. Cities empty out, and people return to a primitive habitat.
This is a sci-fi drama about the decline of advanced civilization, with elements of body horror. An unusual concept about mutation and the new reality humanity was forced to face. Beautifully and interestingly shot. I can say with confidence that I would love to see a continuation of this story. But that’s unlikely to happen: festival and arthouse cinema rarely gets sequels.
